Ahead of Moon Knight’s premiere on March 30, Disney+ U.K. updated the rating of the Oscar Isaac-led series to a 16+ age rating from 12+. What’s interesting about this change in the listing is that Moon Knight now shares the same maturity rating as The Punisher and Jessica Jones, as well as Netflix’s other former Marvel shows, at least in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, Daredevil remains the only show from The Defenders Saga with an 18+ rating. Of course, the United Kingdom usually positions its age ratings above the United States. Case in point, The Batman might have remained a PG-13 outing for American audiences while British regulatory bodies gave the Matt Reeves film got a higher 15+ rating instead. Having said that, we wouldn’t be surprised if Moon Knight retains its TV-14 rating in the U.S. Disney’s foray into more mature content was always a matter of when and not if following its acquisition of FOX back in 2019, which gave them the rights to the R-rated comic book superhero film, Deadpool 3. Not to mention, Disney made changes to how its streaming platform worked earlier this month in a bid to welcome Daredevil and the rest of The Defenders Saga to the Disney+ streaming library. Audiences need only wait for March 30 to see if Moon Knight can deliver on its potential as the MCU’s most mature outing yet.
