So far, all the footage of Resident Evil Village that Capcom has released comes from next-gen consoles. Although it’s only natural that they want to show off the latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise at its finest. Still, it leaves plenty of doubt as to how well the game will run on the PS4 and Xbox One. This is especially after the whole fiasco with Cyberpunk 2077 looking drastically different depending on what system you use to play it. With that said, the latest trailer showing how Resident Evil Village looks on the PS4 Pro should help put a lot of worried gamers at ease. As of the moment, the stock shortage for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X has yet to find a resolution. Microsoft and Sony continue to have a hard time keeping up with the demand. It also hasn’t helped that the Suez Canal blockage might have contributed to their shortage issues. With the game looking good on the PlayStation 4 Pro as per the trailer, it’s safe to say that gamers won’t be as worried if they can’t get their hands on a next-gen console once Resident Evil Village releases in May.

They also most likely handpicked the best-looking scenes for it. As a result, the final product could look a lot different on the console. It’s also important to keep in mind that the PlayStation 4 Pro is still technically an upgrade to the base PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Considering that many skipped this mid-generation upgrade in anticipation of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, those who waited and couldn’t get their hands on a next-gen console could be stuck playing the game on a weaker PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. So, basically, what we’re saying is that this isn’t a true last-gen trailer. It’s a best-case scenario trailer showing what Resident Evil Village could look like on an upgraded version of last-generation consoles. The game will likely not look as good if you’re playing on a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. If it’s any consolation, it’s good news for those intending to play the game on the PC. We are well aware that the optimization differs between platforms. However, considering that it runs well on a PS4 Pro, Resident Evil Village won’t look as bad on your PC even if it barely meets the minimum specified requirements. Many believe that Capcom will make a more extensive Resident Evil Village demo available during the franchise’s 25th-anniversary showcase.
