In Avengers: Endgame, Marvel resolved the arc of several of the primary characters, including Captain America, Black Widow, and Iron Man, after the epic battle with the mega-villain: Thanos. While many fans of the franchise have speculated that the events of that movie marked the end of the Avengers as a team, the company had never deigned to confirm or refute the talk, until now. Nevertheless, Kevin Feige’s comments raise more questions about the future of the Avengers, especially since Marvel Studios has two Avengers-titled movies on its roster. The two movies, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, are scheduled for 2025 releases. They will conclude the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, which comprises the ongoing Phase Four of the franchise, and the upcoming Phase Five and Phase Six. With Kevin’s comments, fans are left to wonder whether these titles will reveal the assembling of a new Avengers team or something else. In July, at the San Diego Comic-Con event, while discussing the MCU, he made the following comment to ComicBook.com, “I think we learn something on every project we do, but as we were laying out, even three years ago here laying out Phase Four, which we didn’t lay out all of, but most of, we realized that it’s very different than Phase One, Two and Three, that there are more projects in less years, and therefore it didn’t seem right, you’re not going to culminate every 10 months in an Avengers movie.” He continued, “And each of the films themselves now have become quite big and are crossover events in many ways. And after, you know, the creative experience we had with Infinity War and Endgame, it felt like it was about capping a saga, saving back-to-back Avengers films for the completion of a saga and that’s really what we wanted to lay out today.” Given these comments, we are inclined to think that there will be another Avengers superteam to “cap out” the Multiverse Saga. However, unless Kevin Feige and Marvel decide to shed more light on their plans for the MCU, we can only speculate. Marvel’s Phase Four will end in 2022 with the final movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, set to be released on November 11. Then, Marvel will kick off Phase Five with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on February 17, 2023. We have collated all the movies and series in Marvel’s Phase Five to help our readers keep track of the timeline. Also, Marvel Studios revealed numerous important pieces of information and showcased trailers about their upcoming Phase Five movies and series at the D23 Expo.
