A recent post by John Cena shows Fortnite’s island as seen from space, suggesting that the WWE superstar’s likeness is making its way to the popular battle royale. Although many speculated that it would be announced right after the finale aired, it appears that Fortnite is sitting on it for a while after just releasing the Nathan Drake skin.
For what it’s worth, this isn’t the first time that Peacemaker’s been hinted at for a Fortnite appearance. There were reports last summer that the peace-loving mercenary would be coming to Fortnite. Of course, this turned out to be false, but you could also argue that Epic was just waiting for a more opportune time. After all, while Peacemaker was one of the highlights of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, the film didn’t exactly do well at the global box office. Having said that, Peacemaker’s rumored Fortnite skin would be the first time that the relatively obscure DCEU character will appear in full in a video game. Of course, it’s best to take what you just read with a grain of salt. Cena, just like every other celebrity or human for that matter, isn’t prone to showing appreciation on their social media accounts. Cena could very well just have been posting random stuff and it just so happens to be of Fortnite. Then again, it’s also too much of a coincidence that Cena starts posting stuff about Fortnite just as Peacemaker’s run on HBO Max saw its explosive conclusion. In other news, Peacemaker is returning for another DC movie in the future. While details of Peacemaker’s next project remain scarce at the moment, it appears that Warner Bros. sees a lot of potential for Cena’s masked vigilante. Meanwhile, Peacemaker’s writer and director, James Gunn, just got the green light to do more spin-offs in the DCEU, including the second season of Peacemaker, which he will also write and direct.
