While the verdict is still out on whether John Cena nails his DCEU role of Peacemaker perfectly, he seems to be loving the character so far. In fact, John Cena recently turned up to The Suicide Squad’s premiere event dressed in full Peacemaker costume.
Are we going to see more of Cena’s Peacemaker in the DCEU?
— John Cena (@JohnCena) August 3, 2021 As you can see in the tweet above, Cena is mimicking his character’s pose from the official poster of The Suicide Squad. He then addresses the audience by saying, “We’re here, at the premiere of The Suicide Squad, a James Gunn film.” He then added that he’s “prepared to dive inside the mind of James Gunn and I’m dressed for the occasion as Peacemaker.” The Peacemaker is not the most popular comic book character. The patriotic anti-hero, whose real name is Christopher Smith, was created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette back in 1966. Since then, he’s been a part of multiple iterations of Task Force X, otherwise known as the Suicide Squad. The violent vigilante will be making his DCEU debut along with Cena in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The 2021 film serves as a soft reboot or remake of David Ayer’s 2016 DCEU film, Suicide Squad, which was a commercial success but widely panned by critics. Speaking of critics, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad seems to be much more loved. At the moment, The Suicide Squad holds a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which makes it one of the highest-rated comic book films of all time. As for Cena, he’s set to reprise his role in the HBO Max TV series, Peacemaker, which is reportedly set to premiere in January 2022.
