Now, Kojima has gone out of his way to dismiss the rumors. Here’s what Kojima said to Geoff Keighley on the Brain Structure podcast: The timeline matches up to when Abandoned was first revealed. At the time, most fans had believed that the cryptic horror game was a Silent Hill project in disguise. It also didn’t help that Hasan Kahraman shared the same initials as Hideo Kojima, which only fueled all of the rumors. Finally, what really “sealed” the deal for a lot of gamers is the fact that Kojima has done this sort of stuff before. It’s worth noting that Metal Gear Solid V was initially revealed under the name, The Phantom Pain, with Moby Dick Studio as its developers. Things got so out of control that Kahraman ended up showing his face to prove that he wasn’t Kojima, but it wasn’t enough. As we’ve learned from Kojima, people still insist that Blue Box Game Studios and Kojima are somehow associated with each other, even after Konami has revealed a slate of Silent Hill games, including a Silent Hill 2 remake. For what it’s worth, Kojima doesn’t seem frustrated or upset at what’s happening. According to the Death Stranding creator, Blue Box Game Studios should “take advantage” of the buzz and “create something good and share it with everyone.” Blue Box Game Studios later thanked Kojima for clarifying things while also reassuring fans that the game is still in development.
— BLUE BOX Game Studios (@BBGameStudios) November 4, 2022 After a period of activity last year, Blue Box Game Studios has gone radio silent for the most part since. The last we’ve heard from the Abandoned developers is that it’s still working on the game. But, given that the video game industry attracts its fair share of trolls, it wouldn’t surprise us if both Kojima and Kahraman continue to receive emails about each other. Keep in mind, there are still people out there who believe that Kojima and Konami are still in cahoots with each other and are sitting on a “secret” DLC for Metal Gear Solid V. As for Silent Hill, the iconic survival horror series is in the middle of a renaissance. On top of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Konami is also working on a new live-action adaptation, Silent Hill Townfall, Silent Hill: Ascension, and Silent Hill F.
