With the success of the Final Fantasy VII remake and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, Square Enix is set to bring the sub-series to a wider audience with a new mobile game. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis will bring the world of Gaia and the story of Cloud Strife and Zack Fair to mobile gamers. The first trailer for the upcoming mobile game has been released and it looks amazing for a mobile title. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis will span the entire timeline of Final Fantasy VII, which includes Crisis Core: Final Fantasy. It will also add all the canon titles included in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. This means fans will get to see the Advent Children movie and Before Crisis and Dirge of Cerberus video games in Ever Crisis. It will be interesting to see how the movie is interpreted as a chapter in the video game. There is a part in the trailer that highlights the fight between Tifa and Shinra inside the church from the animated movie. The trailer prominently features Zack Fair, as the episode selected in the trailer was Crisis Core. We also see parts of the original Final Fantasy VII game remade with better graphics. The cinematic cut scenes have also been remastered to feature HD graphics. The game will adopt the turn-based Active Battle System from the original Final Fantasy VII instead of the Real-Time Combat system of Crisis Core. A turn-based system will be easier for users on mobile phones. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis will be a free-to-play title and will release chapters in monthly episodic installments. This will allow players to freely select which of the available chapters they wish to play and focus on. While the upcoming mobile game is free-to-play, it will have microtransactions in the form of loot boxes. The loot boxes will contain a random selection of weapons, items, and costumes for the characters of Final Fantasy VII. In the trailer, we can see Zack and Aerith wearing different costumes. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis will not have a closed beta this year as first announced in June. The closed beta has been delayed to the summer of 2023. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis will be released to Android and iOS sometime in late 2023.
