Exactly a week after Elden Ring hit the market, FromSoftware has dropped a new update and it appears to have fixed at least some of the game’s most prevalent issues.
Patch 1.02.3 went live earlier today and was aimed towards two key areas: controllers not working on the PC version of Elden Ring and issues with save game progression. Although it’s a minor improvement, it’s still very much welcome. One of the biggest gripes reported by Elden Ring PC users was that the game would not recognize gamepads like Xbox One and Xbox Series controllers. This meant that players had no choice but to ditch their gamepads in favor of using a mouse and keyboard to play Elden Ring, which did not score the any points within the PC community.
If equipment or other items do not appear properly, please verify the game files: https://t.co/eBE8HEnXSj Thank you for your support. — ELDEN RING (@ELDENRING) March 4, 2022 Elden Ring Patch 1.02.3 is a relatively small 13MB update and appears to do exactly what it says, except for one small snag - a side effect of the latest fix is that some items might not appear anymore. This isn’t necessarily a big deal and it is easily resolved by verifying Elden Ring’s games files on the Steam client, but it’s an added hassle that docks a couple of points off of an otherwise stellar outing for Elden Ring on any platform. Ultimately, we’re just glad to see BANDAI Namco and FromSoftware putting in the work to improve Elden Ring. The PC should have been the best platform to showcase Elden Ring’s open-world fantasy setting. Instead, the best way to experience Elden Ring right now is on the PS5, where it shines due to Sony’s flagship console’s proprietary SSD making short work of the game’s loading screens, among other advantages.
