We’ve also got a reveal date. Teased - well, sort of outright announced, but then we also knew about this from official sources already? - on Twitter by the official Call of Duty account, Vanguard Zombies has been once again confirmed to directly continue the rebooted Dark Aether storyline started in the last installment, which hit a soft reset on the muddled Zombies timeline.
We’ll be getting a better look at the Zombies mode later on the 14th of October, but the teaser artwork already contained plenty of juicy hints for fans of the supernatural horde mode. Even though the new continuity has only been around for one game so far, the story has already offered its own twists and turns which are bound to get even ’twistier’ and ’turnier’ now. The artwork shows, unsurprisingly, zombies, but more interesting seems to be the Nazi officer front and center holding a strange artefact. The Nazis being responsible for or involved with the undead is a running theme of Call of Duty Zombies modes, and since Vanguard is a WW2 installment in the series, this is hardly surprising.
📆 Oct 14th🕘 8AM PT See you there. pic.twitter.com/spn9SWwvvo — Call of Duty (@CallofDuty) October 12, 2021 We also get a glimpse of a large, four armed demon in the background. Between the fancy headdress and floaty armor, it is pretty clear that we’re dealing with something more sinister than your run of the mill reanimated corpse, and it seems that these ethereal entities will enter the fray as new villains. We’re eager to learn more about the mode in the upcoming full reveal later today - stay tuned for our coverage.
