Catwoman and Batman are uneasy allies in The Batman trailer
Robbert Pattinson’s grittier take on the comic book movie genre, courtesy of Matt Reeves, is shaping up to be quite the spectacle. After an earlier trailer that was dropped at DC FanDome 2021, the latest trailer shows off a bit more about the movie’s potential plot. More importantly, it stars Kravitz’s Selina Kyle as she forms a partnership of sorts with Pattinson’s Batman, as the two work together to try and bring some semblance of justice to the now-decrepit Gotham City. The latest The Batman trailer also showcases more of Edward Nashton, otherwise more commonly known as The Riddler, as he sets his eyes towards taking down the Wayne family at all costs. In a movie that will feature several of Batman’s most iconic villains (including a rumored cameo from the Joker near the end of the film), it appears that The Riddler will be central to the film. It will be interesting to see what motivates Riddler’s disdain for the Waynes this time around. Either way, it will still fall on Batman to try and put a stop to whatever the genius-intellect villain has planned. Unlike most the superhero movies these days that take place in interconnected universes, The Batman is set in its own universe. This means that you shouldn’t expect anyone from The Flash or Aquaman to make a cameo here. But, judging by what we’ve seen so far, Matt Reeves has done a great job at creating a self-contained experience that could potentially lead to more sequels. Only time will tell if The Batman has what it takes to kickstart another superhero franchise for Warner Bros. For now, all fans can do is wait for The Batman to be released in theaters on March 4, 2022. But, if you’re still not bullish on theaters by then, don’t worry. WarnerMedia’s CEO confirmed earlier this week that The Batman will premiere on HBO Max on April 19, 2022.
